SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment held their earnings call today and with it came some new updates about upcoming rides and seasonal events. First off, here are some numbers from the earnings call. SeaWorld generated revenue of $18 million, a decrease of $388 million, or 96%, compared to the second quarter of 2019. Due to all of SeaWorld parks closing in March due to COVID-19, attendance for the second quarter decreased by approximately 6.2 million guests, or 96%, when compared to the prior-year quarter (2019).
Now onto the more interesting stuff, SeaWorld did (unfortunately) confirm today that pretty much all of their scheduled new 2020 attractions will be moved to 2021. This includes, Iron Gwazi at Busch Gardens Tampa, Pantheon at Busch Gardens Williamsburg, Ice Breaker at SeaWorld Orlando and Emperor at SeaWorld San Diego.
SeaWorld also did mention that Halloween and Christmas events will be still happen at their parks. They mentioned that they will happen as long as it’s safe and profitable. No other details were given. One small change happened to the Howl-O-Scream Busch Gardens Tampa site, though. The site now reads “Check back soon for reservations and more event details.” Could Busch Gardens Tampa be looking to cash in on the cancellation of Halloween Horror Nights. We will have to wait and see.
As always, be sure to follow us on Twitter and Facebook for the latest updates from SeaWorld parks.
