Just in time for Walt Disney World Resort’s 50th anniversary, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort will take a brief hiatus to re-theme the resort, starting with an enhanced entryway. Walt Disney Imagineering and Walt Disney World have crafted a brand new design that is inspired by colors, patterns, and textures found throughout the resort and Polynesian culture. The entry will feature a high-pitched, open-truss roof covered in a thatched style. The Monorail station will have bold new wooden screens that will be covered with geometric patterns for when you visit.
Enhancements will be made to the gardens and fountains outside of the front entrance. The entryway will feature dramatic lighting elements, including beautiful chandeliers inspired by glass floats, fishing nets, and bamboo. The resort’s guest rooms are also being redone, however, there are no details on these yet.
Despite the construction, guests can still enjoy access to the Great Ceremonial House and its operating dining and retail outlets. Disney is anticipating this being complete by Summer 2021.
Emily Ann has always loved the theme parks, and is now so happy she gets to create content around them for ThrillGeek! She considers herself a huge theme park foodie, as well as finding unique items across the parks. Would die for HHN.
