With COVID-19, the parks have halted when it has come to the promised progress we were supposed to see take place at EPCOT this year. Today, Disney has provided a little bit of an update for all those wondering about the park’s next steps.
First up, is the park’s reimagined entrance, that will kick off the entire transformation with a new color palette and an open layout. You may have noticed the new pylons that will be part of the new fountain at the base of Spaceship Earth. These are now promised to be completed by the end of this year, as the fountain will have a new lighting package with also new lighting for the geosphere of Spaceship Earth.
Next up, work continues on Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, which will be a new coaster experience coming to World Discovery. Recently housed here was Ellen’s Energy Adventure. Recently, attraction vehicles were put on the track for initial “push/pull” testing.
Still no opening date for the World Showcase Lagoon – “Harmonious” show, but Disney promises it will be one of the largest shows ever created for a Disney park. With a new artist concept rendering, the fountains out on the lagoon for the show will also go off during the day.
