Universal Studios Japan will host the grand opening of the first Super Nintendo World on February 4, 2021! The land will bring to life Nintendo’s legendary worlds, characters, and adventures where guests will be able to play inside their favorite games. Below, Universal has released exclusive new footage of the world’s first Mario Kart theme park ride, Mario Kart: Koopa’s Challenge as well as new images of the land, rides, and the interior of Bowser’s Castle.

Super Nintendo World will feature Mario Kart and Yoshi-themed attractions, as well as restaurants, shops, and will be only found in Universal Studios Japan. Guests can interact with the land by purchasing a Power-Up Band, innovative technology to help bring gameplay to life and allow guests to keep score. Guests with a Power-Up Band can also punch blocks, collect virtual coins, and more!
Sneak peek of Bowser’s Castle
The inside of Bowser’s castle has a mysterious vibe within its stone walls, spiked fences, and heavy iron doors. There’s also a massive stone statue of Bowser at the center of a grand staircase!
Mario Kart
Inside the castle is the first-ever Mario Kart theme park ride! Universal Creative partnered with Nintendo to bring a real-life racing adventure with Mario Kart: Koopa’s Challenge! Guests will put on a headset that will take them through the Mario Kart universe. Guests will race through iconic courses with their favorite Nintendo characters and be transported into the Nintendo worlds. Guests can go into the Mushroom Kingdom and throw shells as they race to the finish line with Mario, Luigi, and Princess Peach!

Capacity: 4 people (per vehicle)
Height Restriction: Must be over 122cm *92cm if accompanied by an adult
Yoshi’s Adventure (Ride)
Guests can climb onto Yoshi’s back and follow Captain Toad on a treasure hunting adventure! Captain Toad has forgotten his treasure map, and guests will need to find the 3 colored eggs that lead the way to the Golden Egg that Captain Toad was seeking! This ride is perfect for the whole family.

Height Restriction: Must be over 122cm *86cm if accompanied by an adult
Power Up Band Key Challenge
Work your way through the games located throughout the area to collect three keys! The adventure concludes with a dramatic boss battle with Bowser Jr. Jump, where guests can punch and use their entire body to win.
Recommended Age: 5 years and above

Download the Universal Studios Japan app and link it with the Power-Up Band available for purchase. Collect virtual coins and check your ranking, collect stamps, and use the Power-Up Band to experience the world.
