**UPDATE** Disneyland has issued a new statement on last night’s fire during Fantasmic! In the new statement, Disneyland mentions that similar fire effects used during select Disney shows and experiences globally will be temporarily suspended “out of an abundance of caution.” See the full statement below:

The massive Maleficent dragon that Mickey Mouse battles at the end of the show caught fire during Saturday night’s 10:30p performance of Fantasmic! At Disneyland. According to KABC, no injuries were reported and the extent of the damage is unclear.

Cast Members evacuated the crowds out of the waterfront viewing area where the show takes place and nearby attractions in Frontierland for safety, and firefighters arrived shortly after to extinguish the flames.

All cast members were safely evacuated from Tom Sawyer Island. Due to smoke and wind, attractions near the island were safely evacuated of any guests, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation at this time.

The show can run without the dragon. It will utilize projections and water screens instead of the massive animatronic figure, as seen in the above video.

The show’s performance schedule for today (Sunday) has been updated and there are currently no shows scheduled for tonight through Thursday. The next scheduled performance is for Friday, April 28.
