Herschend, the world’s largest family-owned themed entertainment company, is expanding with the acquisition of Palace Entertainment’s U.S. properties from Parques Reunidos. This move strengthens Herschend’s portfolio while allowing Parques Reunidos to focus on its core European market.

A Growing Legacy in Family Entertainment

The acquisition adds 20+ beloved venues across 10 states, including Kennywood (PA), Dutch Wonderland (PA), and Lake Compounce (CT)—home to the world-famous Boulder Dash wooden coaster.

“This marks 75 years of bringing families together, and this expansion furthers that vision,” said Andrew Wexler, CEO of Herschend. “We’re excited to continue creating memories worth repeating for generations.”

What Guests & Employees Can Expect

Herschend is ensuring a smooth transition, with no immediate changes to daily operations. Key priorities include:

  • Supporting employees with training and resources.
  • Enhancing guest experiences while preserving each park’s charm.
  • Keeping communities informed throughout the process.

“These parks have built strong legacies, and we’re eager to grow with them,” Wexler added.

Continuing a Tradition of Excellence

Herschend, known for destinations like Dollywood and Silver Dollar City, remains committed to high-quality entertainment and community connections.

The transaction is expected to finalize later this year.
