There’s a tall new reason to smile at Disney’s Animal Kingdom — say hello to Tucker, the adorable baby Masai giraffe! Born to proud mom Mara, Tucker is the first giraffe calf born at Walt Disney World Resort since 2021. This heartwarming milestone reflects Disney’s ongoing commitment to conservation and the protection of endangered species.
Mara, who arrived on the savanna in 2015, has now expanded her family for the third time. Guests visiting Kilimanjaro Safaris may be lucky enough to spot her and Tucker stretching their legs as they explore the lush savanna together.
Tucker’s birth carries major conservation significance. Masai giraffes are classified as endangered by the IUCN, with fewer than 30,000 remaining in the wild. His arrival is part of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) Species Survival Plan, which supports healthy, genetically diverse giraffe populations. Thanks to Disney’s world-class veterinary and animal care teams, both mom and baby are thriving.
This celebration also comes as the Disney Conservation Fund (DCF) marks 30 years of supporting global wildlife protection. Since 1995, the DCF has contributed over $132 million to conservation efforts around the world — empowering communities, restoring habitats, and helping to protect animals like the giraffe for generations to come.
