Dollywood has pulled back the curtain on what’s been rising inside Wildwood Grove: NightFlight Expedition, a first-of-its-kind family adventure opening in 2026. With a price tag of more than $50 million, the new attraction marks the largest single investment in Dollywood history.
A Hybrid Thrill Ride Like No Other
NightFlight Expedition blends four ride types into one groundbreaking experience. Guests will board a custom amphibious ride vehicle from Mack Rides — the same system that just won the 2025 Golden Ticket Award for Best New Innovation. The attraction fuses roller coaster thrills, whitewater rafting, immersive media, and scenic boat travel into a 5 ½-minute journey through the Smoky Mountains at night.
Expect to soar above glowing treetops, plunge through rapids fueled by more than 500,000 gallons of water, and glide across a shimmering bioluminescent lake.
Storytelling with Smoky Mountain Magic
The ride’s narrative centers on twin scientists Cora and Jasper Oakley, who invite guests to join their search for Secret Lake. Using their invention — the Bioluminator — they set out to track glowing roots from Wildwood Grove’s magical tree, leading to discoveries of bioluminescent wonders hidden in the Smokies.
Dolly Parton shared her excitement in a video message, saying, “Our new ride sends you out into the mountains at night, which is the time that I think they really come to life… It’s pure mountain magic.”
A New Era for Dollywood
Housed inside a 44,000 sq. ft. temperature-controlled facility, NightFlight Expedition will be Dollywood’s first attraction able to operate year-round regardless of weather. Park officials believe it will set a new standard for themed family attractions in the region.

Early Access for Passholders
Dollywood’s 2025 season passholders who renew early will get the chance to ride before the public debut. Pre-registration for 2026 passes is open now, with general sales beginning November 1.
NightFlight Expedition is set to officially open in Spring 2026 at Dollywood’s Wildwood Grove.
