Busch Gardens Tampa Bay is roaring into 2026 with the debut of Lion & Hyena Ridge, one of the world’s most immersive new animal habitats and the park’s most ambitious animal project in over a decade. Opening in Spring 2026, this expansive new environment will transport guests to the heart of the African savanna, offering an up-close look at some of nature’s most powerful and fascinating predators.
A New Era for Animal Experiences
The 35,000-square-foot habitat more than doubles the size of the previous area, creating a dynamic ecosystem for a pride of five young male lions (Pascal, Lou, Henri, Hugo, and Herman) and two playful hyenas (Cazi and Dazi). Designed to mirror the African wilderness, the new space features rocky kopje formations, cascading water elements, and multiple vantage points that encourage natural behaviors and exploration.
Guests will enjoy 270-degree panoramic views through glass observation points and shaded walkways, giving an unparalleled opportunity to see the animals in action. The area will also highlight Busch Gardens’ commitment to conservation and education, featuring interactive storytelling moments that deepen the understanding of lion and hyena behaviors and their roles in the ecosystem.
