Intamin & ETF Ride Systems Reveal Groundbreaking “Multi Dimension Mover” Dark Ride

Share:

Intamin Amusement Rides and ETF Ride Systems have officially announced a new collaborative attraction concept, the Multi Dimension Mover — a next-generation dark ride system combining trackless technology, high-speed motion, and multi-axis ride elements. The ride was revealed ahead of its appearance at IAAPA Expo 2025 in Orlando.

A First-of-Its-Kind Collaboration

The Multi Dimension Mover marks the first major product developed jointly by Intamin and ETF since the two companies formalized their partnership in 2024. ETF brings more than 800 installed ride vehicles worldwide, while Intamin continues to expand its portfolio of high-capacity roller coasters, water rides, and dark ride technologies.

Hybrid Motion + Trackless Technology

The new system blends ETF’s trackless ride platform with Intamin’s motion-based technology. The vehicle is capable of reaching speeds up to 36 km/h (22 mph) via a pinch-wheel launch system — up to seven times faster than a typical trackless dark ride. The launch path can include slopes, turns, and small elevations, opening the door for layouts that function more like compact coasters than traditional dark rides.

Multi-Axis and Vertical Elements

A key feature of the Multi Dimension Mover is its ability to incorporate Intamin’s lineup of multi-dimension effects, including drop tracks, lifts, bungee drops, and short “flying theater-style” sequences. The chassis supports 360-degree omni-directional motion, while the passenger cabin can rotate independently at up to 10 rpm, or 20 rpm when combined with chassis rotation. Parks may also opt for a tilt-and-roll module with ±8 degrees of motion.

Onboard Interactivity and Programmability

The system supports interactive components such as game shooters, pointer systems, and haptic triggers. Vehicles can be equipped with onboard audio, LEDs, and scene-reactive lighting, all powered through a hybrid onboard energy system using both supercapacitors and batteries. Each cabin can also be fully themed to suit a park’s story requirements.

Designed for Flexible Layouts

Because the system is trackless, parks can design more flexible and space-efficient layouts compared to traditional dark rides. The vehicle can accelerate at up to 1.5 m/s², and layouts can be modified over time without major reconstruction, offering long-term adaptability for parks.

IAAPA 2025 Presence

The new ride system will be showcased at IAAPA Expo 2025, where Intamin will exhibit at Booth #3825 and ETF at Booth #4229.

Industry Outlook

The Multi Dimension Mover aims to bridge the gap between traditional dark rides and coaster-style thrills. With its mix of motion, interactivity, and storytelling potential, the system is positioned as a new option for parks seeking a high-impact indoor attraction without the footprint of a full coaster.
