Disney kicked off the Season of Giving this week with a surprise visit to The Learning Center, Walt Disney World’s onsite childcare program for Cast Members. The Walt Disney World Ambassadors stopped by for a special story time and brought along hundreds of copies of the Orange Bird Golden Book to share with the kids.

The Learning Center has been part of Disney’s work-life support for more than two decades, offering year-round childcare and seasonal camps operated by the Central Florida YMCA. It’s a place many Cast Member families rely on daily, providing flexible options, early education programs, and moments of Disney magic sprinkled in throughout the year.

During the visit, Ambassadors read to classrooms filled with little ones, shared hugs and laughs, and helped create a bit of extra holiday cheer. The Orange Bird book, which focuses on kindness and courage, was chosen as part of Disney’s ongoing efforts to inspire creativity and storytelling at a young age.

For many Cast Members, having childcare right on Disney property is life-changing. It ensures peace of mind for parents working long or varied shifts, knowing their kids are safe, engaged, and surrounded by supportive educators. Disney also offers scholarship support to help eligible employees with childcare costs.

The moment captured the spirit of the season and gave a rare look inside a Cast-Member-only space. For families who rely on The Learning Center all year long, it was a simple but meaningful reminder of Disney’s continued investment in caring for its people.

Photos, b-roll, and soundbites were shared with media ahead of the story’s Dec. 1 release.
