The Walt Disney Company is marking America’s 250th anniversary with a sweeping, yearlong initiative called Disney Celebrates America, honoring the nation’s past, present, and future through storytelling, experiences, and meaningful support for veterans, military families, and communities across the country.
The celebration officially began on Veterans Day 2025 and will continue through the July 4, 2026 holiday weekend, bringing together Disney’s parks, media networks, streaming platforms, and consumer products in a coordinated tribute to the American spirit.
Disney Kicks Off 2026 with a Rose Parade Tribute
Disney rang in the new year with a patriotic presence in the 137th Rose Parade in Pasadena, California. The “Disney Celebrates America” parade entry served as a colorful tribute to the nation’s semiquincentennial, spotlighting optimism, imagination, and the stories that connect generations.
Leading the entry was the Main Street U.S.A. Horseless Carriage from Disneyland, carrying Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse, decorated in red, white, and blue florals. More than 50 U.S. military veterans who now work as Disney cast members joined the procession alongside their families.
The floral design itself carried special meaning. Red poppies honored fallen service members, while rosemaries, blue irises, white lilies, chrysanthemums, and red roses symbolized remembrance, honor, and appreciation for veterans.
As part of the parade celebration, Disney also announced a $2.5 million donation to Blue Star Families, expanding its long-standing support for military and veteran families nationwide.
Soarin’ Across America Coming to Disney Parks in Summer 2026
A major parks highlight of the celebration arrives in summer 2026 with the debut of Soarin’ Across America at Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort.
The updated attraction will take guests on a coast-to-coast journey across the United States, showcasing natural wonders and iconic cityscapes. The new experience anchors Disney’s park-based celebration of America’s 250th anniversary and will be available at Disney California Adventure and EPCOT.
July 4, 2026 Weekend Brings Nationwide Disney Broadcast Event
The celebration will culminate during the July 4 weekend with a 24-hour, multi-platform broadcast titled Disney Celebrates America. The event will air across Disney’s linear networks and streaming platforms, including Disney Plus, Hulu, ABC, ESPN, Disney Channel, Freeform, FX, and National Geographic.
The broadcast will feature live coverage from across the country, hosted by David Muir and joined by ABC News anchors, ESPN commentators, and National Geographic Explorers. The day will conclude with a special fireworks broadcast from both Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort.
