Beginning April 29, 2026, Disneyland will officially “unlock the timeline” of Batuu, ushering in a new era of storytelling that spans the entire Star Wars saga. This shift represents a significant evolution in how Disney Parks approaches narrative consistency, prioritizing guest experience and the legacy of the franchise.
Legendary Characters Arrive on Batuu

For the first time, the boundaries between generations will fade. Guests visiting Black Spire Outpost will have the opportunity to encounter the most iconic figures from the original trilogy:
• Luke Skywalker: Roaming the outpost in search of ancient Jedi artifacts and kyber crystal lore.
• Princess Leia & Han Solo: Working together near the Millennium Falcon to recruit travelers for the burgeoning Rebellion.
• Darth Vader: The Sith Lord will make his presence known as he searches for the elusive Jedi, accompanied by Imperial Stormtroopers.

While these legends take center stage, the current “Age of Resistance” characters—including Rey and Kylo Ren—will continue to have a presence, allowing the land to function as a living tribute to the entire “Skywalker Saga.”
A Multisensory Expansion
The update is not limited to character appearances. Imagineering is leaning into the cinematic roots of the franchise to enhance the atmosphere of the land:
• The Music of John Williams: In a departure from the land’s original ambient soundscape, the iconic, soaring scores of John Williams will now be integrated into the guest experience, providing a truly cinematic backdrop to your visit.
• Evolving Storylines: New props, updated graphics, and refreshed merchant narratives will reflect the rich, multi-decade history of Batuu, from the Galactic Civil War through the New Republic.
This update signals a broader “open-world” philosophy for Star Wars at Disneyland. By moving away from a fixed point in time, the park can now integrate new stories from Disney+ series and classic films alike without compromising the “in-story” logic of the land.
Whether you are a lifelong fan of the original 1977 film or a newcomer to the galaxy, April 2026 marks the beginning of a more inclusive, dynamic, and legendary experience at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
Are you ready to choose your path? Plan your visit to Disneyland starting April 29, 2026, to experience the expanded timeline for yourself.
