For fans of the Mushroom Kingdom, the next few weeks at Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando Resort are shaping up to be a 1UP. Starting March 10, both destinations are “powering up” for a limited-time celebration of Nintendo and Illumination’s highly anticipated The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.
From exclusive character encounters to treats that look like they fell from a star, here is everything travelers need to know about this intergalactic takeover.
The highlight for many visitors will undoubtedly be the rare opportunity to meet Yoshi in person. While Mario and Luigi are the usual stars, the green dino is making a special appearance at SUPER NINTENDO WORLD in Hollywood and the brand-new Universal Epic Universe in Orlando. It’s a must-see moment for anyone looking to round out their character photo collection.

A Menu From Another Dimension
Universal’s culinary team has clearly leaned into the “cosmic” theme, debuting two standout items available through April 13:
-
The Rosalina Cupcake: A blue velvet treat filled with blueberry cheesecake and lemon buttercream, topped with a chocolate crown fit for a princess.
-
Galaxy Popcorn: A multicolored, berry-flavored snack dusted with edible glitter, designed to shimmer just like the stars in the film.
High-Tech Souvenirs: The Luma Shoulder Pals

Merchandise collectors should take note of the first-of-its-kind interactive shoulder pals. Modeled after the film’s Luma characters, these accessories come in blue and yellow and feature built-in light and sound. The most impressive feature? The Lumas actually “communicate” with one another when they are in close proximity to a fellow fan’s shoulder pal.
Stepping Into the Screen
The experience isn’t contained solely within the park gates. At Universal CityWalk, guests can navigate a vibrant “galactic tunnel” photo-op, offering a cinematic backdrop for those looking to capture the perfect vacation memory.
For those wanting to see the adventure on the biggest screen possible, the film officially premieres on Wednesday, April 1. Fans can catch it right on-site at the Universal Cinema in Hollywood or the Universal Cinemark in Orlando.
This limited-time event runs from MAR10 Day (March 10) through Monday, April 13, 2026.
