EPCOT fans finally have a reason to celebrate: Dreamfinder and Figment are set to return to the park together, bringing back one of the most beloved partnerships in EPCOT history.
The announcement was made during the closing moments of the Disney Experiences showcase at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event. Disney Experiences Chairman Thomas Mazloum shared the news with an enthusiastic crowd, confirming that the company is developing a new journey into imagination featuring both characters.
While Disney has not yet revealed exactly how Dreamfinder and Figment will be incorporated into EPCOT, the announcement marks a significant moment for longtime fans of the park.
A Long-Awaited Reunion

Figment has remained a recognizable presence at EPCOT for decades. The purple dragon first appeared when the original Journey Into Imagination attraction opened in 1983 and quickly became one of the park’s defining characters.
Although Journey Into Imagination has changed significantly throughout its history, Figment has continued to be associated with EPCOT’s emphasis on creativity, curiosity, and imagination.
In recent years, the character has enjoyed an especially strong resurgence. Figment regularly appears at the Imagination! pavilion, has become a major presence during EPCOT festivals and has inspired a seemingly endless assortment of merchandise. The character’s popularity reached new heights following the introduction of the Figment popcorn bucket in 2022, which became one of Disney’s most sought-after park souvenirs.
But for many longtime EPCOT fans, Figment has always been closely connected to another character: Dreamfinder.
Who Is Dreamfinder?

Dreamfinder was introduced alongside Figment in the original Journey Into Imagination. The eccentric inventor served as Figment’s companion and encouraged guests to embrace creativity and look at the world with a sense of wonder.
Together, Dreamfinder and Figment explored the seemingly limitless possibilities of imagination, making the original attraction particularly memorable for generations of EPCOT visitors.
Dreamfinder remained part of the attraction from its opening in 1983 until 1998. Since then, the character has largely existed as a piece of EPCOT history, lots of merchandise, and a favorite among longtime Disney fans.
That makes Disney’s announcement particularly significant.
What Will the New Experience Be?
For now, Disney is keeping many of the details under wraps. The company has confirmed that guests will eventually be able to experience a new journey into imagination featuring Dreamfinder and Figment, but specific information about the attraction’s storyline, location, opening date, and format has not yet been announced.
Disney’s announcement also suggests that this is only the beginning, with additional information about the characters’ return expected in the future.
A Return to EPCOT’s Roots

EPCOT has undergone substantial changes in recent years, with new attractions, entertainment, and experiences reshaping the park. At the same time, Disney has increasingly recognized the importance of the park’s original identity and the characters and attractions that helped establish its personality.
Few characters are more closely associated with that history than Figment and Dreamfinder.
Their return provides an opportunity to reconnect EPCOT’s future with an important part of its past while introducing a new generation of guests to the idea that imagination can be one of the park’s greatest attractions.
For now, fans will have to wait for Disney to reveal exactly what is being planned for these two iconic Walt Disney Worlc characters.
