This morning, Disney announced the Ultimate Princess Celebration, a multi-year global campaign spotlighting themes of Kindness and Courage, the key characteristics shared by Disney Princess characters.
Joining the celebration include Mandy Moore (voice of Rapunzel from Disney’s “Tangled”), Auli’i Cravalho (voice of Moana from Disney’s “Moana”), Tamron Hall, Kelly Marie Tran (voice of Raya from Disney’s “Raya and the Last Dragon”) and Anika Noni Rose (voice of Tiana from Disney’s “The Princess and the Frog”). Each will be reading an excerpt from one of the stories within Tales of Courage and Kindness, a new storybook collection launching today, available for free download at princess.disney.com.
The Ultimate Princess Celebration invites fans around the world to find inspiration and embrace their kindness and courage through various activities including an all-new Princess anthem, exclusive digital content, new toys, apparel, games, stories, and more. Mulan, Cinderella, Tiana, Jasmine, Snow White, Moana, Merida and Rapunzel, as well as Queens Anna and Elsa from Frozen will be at the heart of the celebration. Disney is also teaming up with the Starlight Children’s Foundation in the U.S., bringing Disney Princess and Frozen-themed hospital gowns to courageous children during their hospital stay.
To kick off the Celebration, global superstar and Grammy® Award-winning recording artist Brandy, who starred as the beloved princess in The Wonderful World of Disney, Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella, has recorded a new original song called “Starting Now.” The “Starting Now” single, produced by Grammy® Award nominee Oak Felder and written by Jason Mater, Jordan Powers, and Darren Criss, will be released by Walt Disney Records on May 21 along with a lyric video. Fans can listen to their favorite Disney Princess songs now on a curated playlist from Walt Disney Records.
Brandy will also debut a music video for “Starting Now,” the celebration’s anthem, which will be featured in Disney Princess Remixed – An Ultimate Princess Celebration, a music special premiering this August on Disney Channel. The half-hour show will celebrate the empowering attributes of Disney princesses and queens through reimagined performances of their iconic songs by several of Disney’s multitalented stars. After its premiere on Disney Channel in the U.S., the special will also be available on Disney+ for kids and families around the world to enjoy.
Tales of Courage and Kindness Storybook Collection
To kick off the celebration, Disney Publishing Worldwide has released an all new, empowering and heartfelt storybook collection by a diverse group of authors and illustrators, Tales of Courage and Kindness. The collection of 14 original stories explore themes of kindness and courage, as told by each Disney Princess as well as Queens Anna and Elsa, and feature beautiful new illustrations of the characters and their unique stories. Tales of Courage and Kindness will be available for free download beginning today until the end of August to help inspire children to create a kinder world.
