Cedar Point Teases The Future of Top Thrill Dragster

With demolition underway on a huge section of Top Thrill Dragster at Cedar Point, many are wondering just what the future of the ride will be.

We got a new video 45-second video teasing the future of Top Thrill Dragster today from Cedar Point that ends with the words “‘A new formula for thrills. Coming 2024.’

Just what exactly is Cedar Point doing to the once record-breaking roller coaster? We know from photos that the 420-foot tower is still standing, but pretty much all of the launch and brake run along with much of the station has been demolished. There’s been speculation that Zamperla could step in and replace the old Intamin hydraulic launch with a much safer (and probably reliable) magnetic (LSM) launch.

Zamperla did recently unveil their new Lightning vehicle roller coaster car at IAAPA 2022 (see above video), so could this possibly be what is in store for Top Thrill Dragster in 2024? We will have to wait and see what Cedar Point has up their sleeves for Top Thrill Dragster.
