Relish in the flavors of Florida (literally) this summer during Disney Springs’ Flavors of Florida event presented by Corkcicle taking place from July 1 – August 13.
Throughout the event, several Disney Springs restaurants and eateries will have Florida-inspired eats and beverages added to their menu for guests to choose from – think Food & Wine Festival, but at Disney Springs.
New Culinary Series
This year’s event features a series of culinary events featuring several Disney Springs chefs and culinary innovators from restaurants, including:
- Jaleo by José Andrés (June 20)
- Wine Bar George (July 7)
- The Polite Pig (July 14)
- Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ (July 21)
- Various Disney restaurants (August 4)
These events are scheduled to take place at Waterview Park and are open to guests as long as they have registered in advance.
Our Favorite Bites
I had the opportunity to try some of the offerings that will be served throughout the event, and these were my favorite.
Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’
Key West Shrimp Cocktail
This dish offers a summery spin on the traditional shrimp cocktail. Served with avocado, mango, and cucumber, we liked how easily it could be enjoyed using a spoon. The accompanying homemade buttermilk crackers added some texture and crunch.
Wine Bar George
Dicuru Burrata
If you’re a cheese lover, the Dicuru Burrata should be at the top of your Flavors of Florida must-try list. And, it’s “hyper-local” made with many ingredients from Florida. The bread “is made by Olde Hearth bakery about 20 minutes down the road from us,” said George Miliotes of Wine Bar George at the event.
Gideon’s Bakehouse
Key Lime Chocolate Chip Cookie
A cookie infused with Florida key lime juice? Yes, you read that right. We enjoyed every bite of this cookie in addition to the key lime pie crumbs. This cookie has a pleasant ratio of tartness to sweetness.
