Flying Fox Family Coaster Debuts at Kentucky Kingdom

Kentucky Kingdom has officially opened Flying Fox, an all-new family-friendly coaster that brings the park’s total to six—the most in the state.

Designed by Herschend Creative Studios, this immersive ride follows the adventures of local legend Jeb Fox, a crop-dusting pilot. Riders soar through a vibrant, agricultural-themed landscape, featuring a red barn-inspired queue and local storytelling. Built by Vekoma, the coaster reaches speeds of 37 mph and heights of 65 feet, making it perfect for thrill-seekers 38 inches and taller.

Flying Fox is the centerpiece of a $14 million investment, marking the latest chapter in a $33 million, three-year transformation of the park. Since 2021, Herschend has reimagined the guest experience through:

  • Discovery Meadow: An $11 million immersive family area.
  • Seasonal Celebrations: Massive investments in Pumpkins at Kentucky Kingdom and the award-winning Christmas at Kentucky Kingdom.

Community Impact

The park celebrated the launch by raising $1,675 for the Kentucky 4-H Foundation through a “First Riders” charity auction, honoring the agricultural roots celebrated by the new coaster.

“Flying Fox is everything we hoped it would be—bold and uniquely Kentucky,” said General Manager Sarah Worrell. “We’ve built something this city can be proud of.”
