The Walt Disney Company has officially greenlit “Mickey’s Home Alone,” an all-new, full-length 3D CG-animated holiday special slated to premiere during the 2026 holiday season on Disney+ and Disney Jr.

Produced by Wild Canary in association with Disney Jr., the upcoming special bridges two major entertainment legacies, pairing the narrative framework of the 1990s 20th Century Studios blockbuster with Disney’s iconic flagship characters.

The Premise: Classic Slapstick, Disney Twist

The narrative follows a familiar, high-stakes holiday setup tailored for family audiences:

  • The Setup: In the frantic morning rush to join Minnie and the rest of the gang on a holiday trip to a world-famous Ice Palace, Mickey and Pluto are accidentally left behind.
  • The Conflict: While the rest of the family scrambles to find a way back home through winter travel delays, Mickey and Pluto must defend their house from two uninvited backyard intruders: a mischievous raccoon and a weasel intent on stealing their Christmas dinner.

Disney is leaning heavily on established animation talent to drive the project, positioning it alongside legacy holiday titles like Mickey’s Christmas Carol.

  • Direction & Production: Directed by Emmy Award-winner Shane Prigmore (Tangled: Before Ever After), with Tom Rogers serving as executive producer and Rachel Ruderman as co-executive producer.
  • Music & Score: Composed by Tony Morales, featuring a new arrangement of “Jingle Bells.”
  • Original Music: The special will debut two new original songs, “Ho-Ho-Home for Christmas” and “Favorite Christmas Feeling,” written by songwriter Keith Harrison Dworkin.

While an exact premiere date has not yet been announced, marketing campaigns and trailers are expected to roll out ahead of the November 2026 holiday launch window.
