All the Major Highlights from the SDCC 2026 Marvel Studios Panel

After skipping last year, Marvel Studios returned to San Diego Comic-Con with an absolute vengeance. Kevin Feige took over Hall H for a blockbuster-heavy presentation focused squarely on the theatrical future of the MCU. From massive Avengers: Doomsday cast reveals to completely unexpected character debuts, Marvel proved they are ready to shake things up.

If you missed out on the chaos of Hall H, here are the biggest highlights and announcements from the panel.

1. Avengers: Doomsday Goes All-In (With a Special Guest and Doctor Doom Masks)

The crown jewel of the evening was a massive showcase for Avengers: Doomsday (slated for theaters on December 18). Directors Joe and Anthony Russo took the stage alongside a gargantuan lineup of talent.

• The Star-Studded Cast: The stage was packed with heavy-hitters crossing universes, including Pedro Pascal, Chris Evans, Paul Rudd, Anthony Mackie, Simu Liu, Letitia Wright, and franchise newcomer Robert Downey Jr. It was also confirmed that Hayley Atwell will return as Peggy Carter, and Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool crashed the panel in a slick new gray suit to heckle the cast.
• Crowd Participation: In a brilliant bit of immersion, every fan in Hall H was given a Doctor Doom mask and cloak. When RDJ took the mic, the entire auditorium turned green as fans donned their masks.
• Exclusive Footage: Fans were treated to an exclusive look at the film, showcasing a deeper connection between Victor Von Doom and Reed Richards (Pedro Pascal), emotional dialogue from Sue Storm about Doom’s tragic past, and an army of comic-accurate Sentinels rising from the ground.
• Endgame Re-release: Before Doomsday drops, Marvel is re-releasing Avengers: Endgame in theaters on September 25 with brand-new footage bridging the gap to the upcoming epic.

2. Ryan Gosling Rides into the MCU as Ghost Rider

In one of the most jaw-dropping casting surprises of the night, Marvel announced an all-new Ghost Rider standalone film starring Ryan Gosling.

• The film will be directed by Shawn Levy, fresh off their collaboration on Star Wars: Starfighter.
• The movie is officially scheduled for a 2028 release. Gosling will become the second actor to play Johnny Blaze in a live-action feature film, bringing a massive star presence to Marvel’s supernatural corner.

3. Black Panther 3 Confirmed with a New Legacy

Director Ryan Coogler returned to Hall H to give fans a massive update on the future of Wakanda. Black Panther 3 is officially locked in for an exclusive theatrical release on December 15, 2028.

• Coogler confirmed that the third installment will not recast T’Challa, but will instead feature a time-jump focusing on the son of T’Challa (who was introduced previously) as he “grows up” and “comes of age”.
• Rising star David Jonsson (Alien: Romulus, The Long Walk) was officially introduced as the new Black Panther, receiving a thunderous, emotional standing ovation from the Hall H crowd. Letitia Wright and Winston Duke will also reprise their roles as Shuri and M’Baku.
