Norwegian Cruise Line has shared a first look at Great Tides Waterpark, the massive new attraction opening at Great Stirrup Cay in the Bahamas on September 4, 2026.

Spanning nearly six acres, the waterpark will feature 19 waterslides, a wandering river, cliff jumps, a kids’ splash area, new dining options, and several adults-only upgrades across NCL’s private island.

Major Attractions

Some of the biggest additions include:

  • The Wandering River, featuring an immersive tunnel experience
  • The Great Slide, a four-person body slide
  • Tidal Tower, home to the Breakwater Blasters dueling water coasters
  • Cliffside Cove, featuring cliff jumps ranging from 10 to 15 feet
  • Splash Cay, a family-friendly splash zone for younger guests

The Breakwater Blasters sound especially fun, using water jets to propel riders uphill before sending them through drops and turns. The cliff jumps should also give thrill seekers something completely different from the typical private island experience.

New Food and Drinks

Great Tides Waterpark will debut several new dining locations, including:

  • Low Tide Smoke, serving barbecue dishes, wings, nachos, and crispy buffalo cauliflower
  • Catch of the Cay, offering fried shrimp, seafood rolls, and waffle fries
  • Tidal Treats, featuring sundaes, bubble waffle bowls, and tropical fish-shaped waffle cones

Guests can also relax at the Grotto Bar near the cliff jumps or grab a drink without leaving the water at the Floataway Bar inside The Wandering River.

Honestly, the swim-up style bar inside the river might be one of the most appealing additions for adults looking to balance thrill rides with some downtime.

More Ways to Relax

Guests looking for a quieter experience can reserve private cabanas inside the waterpark or visit the new adults-only Vibe Shore Club, which will feature premium loungers and a private bar.

NCL’s existing Silver Cove area will continue to offer a more elevated experience with villas, a private beach, dining, an infinity pool, and spa services.

The addition of the new two-berth pier should also make visiting the island much easier by allowing guests to walk directly ashore instead of relying on tender boats.

Grand Opening Details

The official grand opening will take place on September 4, 2026, during Norwegian Luna’s seven-night Caribbean sailing departing August 29.

Day passes are already available for sailings visiting Great Stirrup Cay beginning in September.

With attractions for families, thrill seekers, and guests who simply want to relax with a drink, Great Tides Waterpark looks like a major upgrade for the island. It also shows just how competitive cruise line private destinations have become, with each company trying to offer more than just a beach day.
