Universal Orlando Resort recently began celebrating the upcoming 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics, which kick off on Friday, July 23 in Tokyo. There are new food options available at Music Plaza Stage at Universal Studios Florida as well as a new show before Universal’s Cinematic Celebration.

Food & Beverage

The food booths are located on Music Plaza Stage and feature a variety of food and drink items themed to Japanese cuisine.

We tried the Char Sui rice bowl, Lemongrass Chicken Gyoza and Japanese Highball. The rice bowl is one of the better quick service items we have had at Universal Orlando. The Highball was pretty refreshing.

Voodoo Doughnuts Olympic themed dougnuts

Also getting in on the Olympic action is Voodoo Doughnut, who is offering Olympic ring themed doughnuts, which can either be purchased as a set or individually.

Nighttime Entertainment

Guests who wrap up their night at Universal Studios Florida will be treated to a brand new mini show called “Universal’s Celebration of the Olympics.” The show is approximately 5 minutes long and immediately precedes Cinematic Celebration. Check out the full show above via our YouTube channel. The show will be happening nightly throughout the summer.

The opening ceremony of the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics will take place at 8 p.m. local time in Japan, which will be 7 a.m. ET in the United States. NBC will broadcast the entire opening ceremony live, with coverage slated to begin at 6:55 a.m. ET. NBC Sports Grill & Brew has always aired previous Olympics on their giant screen atop the restaurant, and we guessing the same will be said for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Toyko.
