Disney kicked off World Princess Week and D23 festivities in a big way with Disney Princess: The Ultimate Concert Celebration at Disney California Adventure, bringing together what Disney says is the largest group of Disney Princess talent ever assembled.
Held at Paradise Gardens Park, the concert celebrated decades of Disney Princess music with live performances, film projections, fountains, lighting, and appearances from performers connected to some of Disney’s most beloved animated, live-action, and stage productions.
The lineup included a mix of original voices, Broadway performers, and newer live-action stars, which made the event feel especially unique. Highlights included:
- Brandy performing “A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes”
- Paige O’Hara and Susan Egan coming together for songs from Beauty and the Beast
- Jodi Benson and Halle Bailey performing “Part of Your World”
- Auli’i Cravalho and Catherine Laga’aia celebrating Moana
- Lea Salonga and Brandy performing “A Whole New World”
- Lea Salonga returning for “Reflection”
- Judy Kuhn performing “Colors of the Wind”
- Anika Noni Rose singing “Almost There”
The night ended with the entire cast coming together for “When You Wish Upon a Star.”
What made the concert especially fun was seeing generations of Disney Princess performers share the stage. Hearing original voices alongside newer interpretations of the same characters created a really nice sense of Disney history without making the show feel overly nostalgic.
The concert also welcomed Make-A-Wish families, including Mikayla, who previously made Disney history as the company’s 150,000th wish granted through Make-A-Wish.
The event served as one of the first major celebrations leading into World Princess Week and helped kick off D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event in Anaheim.
For fans who could not attend in person, the full concert will stream on Disney+ and air on Disney Channel, Freeform, and ABC on Sunday, August 16.
