Oriental Land Co., Ltd. has officially announced that Sugar Rush: Sweet Rescue—the world’s first attraction themed to Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Wreck-It Ralph—will celebrate its Grand Opening at Tokyo Disneyland on April 15, 2027 (coinciding with the park’s 44th anniversary).
This brand-new, interactive ride-through gaming attraction takes over part of Tomorrowland as part of the land’s ongoing major evolution, joining the upcoming Space Mountain Earthrise attraction, Tomorrowland Plaza, and surrounding new dining and retail venues.
🏎️ The Story & Gameplay: Stop King Candy & the Sugar Bugs!

In Sugar Rush: Sweet Rescue, King Candy is back to his villainous tricks, plotting to take over the arcade ecosystem by targeting the sweet racing world of Sugar Rush. He has corrupted all the confections—from gumdrops to ice cream—transforming them into destructive Sugar Bugs programmed to devour the kingdom.
Ride Mechanics & Scoring
- The Mission: Guests board interactive ride vehicles equipped with specialized scanners to clear the Sugar Bugs and restore them back to their original “kawaii” form alongside Ralph, Vanellope, and friends.
- Scoring System: Points are awarded based on both the quantity and specific type of Sugar Bugs you restore.
- New Original Soundtrack: The attraction features an all-new score composed and recorded specifically for the ride by Henry Jackman, the original composer for Wreck-It Ralph.
📱 Tech Integration & App Features
Tokyo Disney Resort is introducing seamless smartphone app integration directly connected to the attraction experience:
- In-Vehicle & App Scoreboards: View your final score, restored bug count, and accuracy percentage on your vehicle’s display, as well as temporarily within the Tokyo Disney Resort App.
- Automatic On-Ride Photos: On-ride photos captured during your rescue mission will automatically sync to My Photos on your app (requires Bluetooth enabled prior to boarding) and remain available for purchase/download for 30 days.
- Access Requirements: A Standby Pass (free) or Disney Premier Access (paid) may be required to experience the attraction upon opening.
🛍️ New Shop & Dining Coming to Tomorrowland
Along with the main ride, Tomorrowland is receiving new themed shopping and dining locations:
🛒 Pixel Prism (Opening April 15, 2027)
Located directly adjacent to the attraction exit, Pixel Prism is a futuristic digital marketplace. The design draws inspiration from fiber optics, complete with pixel-patterned flooring, video game motifs, and a massive illuminated pixel structure welcoming guests at the entrance.
- Exclusive Merch: Postcards featuring Ralph and Vanellope, Sugar Bug postcards, character plush toys, gaming toys, candies, and commemorative opening day collectibles.
🍿 Popping Station (Opening March 17, 2027)
Positioned near the attraction overlooking Tomorrowland Plaza, this futuristic popcorn kiosk boasts a striking blue-white luminous design that glows at night.
- New Flavor Launch: Debut location for Sugar-Lime Popcorn—a sweet-and-tart flavor inspired by the Sugar Bugs. (Also rolling out to popcorn wagons park-wide!)
