Universal Orlando Resort has officially announced that Fast & Furious: Supercharged will permanently close on August 17, 2026. For guests wishing to experience the attraction one last time, the final day of operation will be August 16, 2026.
Accelerated Timeline
The decision to close the attraction comes earlier than many fans anticipated. When Universal first announced the upcoming Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift roller coaster—currently under construction on the site of the former Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit—the company initially indicated that Supercharged would remain open until 2027.
Universal confirmed the accelerated timeline in a notice sent to Annual Passholders, framing the closure as a step forward in their ongoing efforts to evolve the park’s offerings.
Fast & Furious: Supercharged opened at Universal Studios Florida on April 23, 2018, replacing the Disaster!: A Major Motion Picture Ride…Starring You and Beetlejuice’s Rock-and-Roll Graveyard Revue.
The ride, which places guests in a “party bus” to witness a high-speed chase through San Francisco via large-format screens, has long been a subject of mixed reviews and fan debate since its debut. While it featured appearances by stars like Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, and Tyrese Gibson, it was frequently criticized for its heavy reliance on screen-based simulation rather than the high-speed thrills associated with the film franchise.
Universal has not yet announced specific plans for the space currently occupied by Fast & Furious: Supercharged. While the closure is being associated with the general rollout of the new Hollywood Drift experience, the new coaster remains under construction elsewhere in the park.
For now, the closure marks the end of an era for the San Francisco section of Universal Studios Florida as the park prepares for the next phase of its evolution.
Are you planning a final trip to ride before it closes, or are you looking forward to seeing what Universal decides to do with the space next?
