Universal Orlando Resort isn’t slowing down anytime soon. The destination is riding a massive wave of momentum, and today they’ve shared a look at what’s next. From reimagined fan favorites to a brand-new themed land, there is a lot of construction tape—and even more excitement—in our near future.
While more specifics are coming down the pipeline, here is the breakdown of what’s changing across the resort:
Universal Studios Florida
A “New” Horror Make-Up Show
The Horror Make-Up Show is getting a major glow-up. Starting May 12, 2026, the show will close temporarily for a reimagining. When it returns later this year, expect a fresh mix of classic monsters and modern horror icons. Don’t worry, though—the park has promised to keep that irreverent, “shockingly fun” comedy that has made the show a cult classic for decades.
Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift

Don’t forget that the high-speed Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift is still on track to join the Universal Studios Florida lineup in 2027.
Universal Islands of Adventure

The End of an Era for Lost Continent
In a move that’s bound to spark plenty of speculation, the Lost Continent will begin closing in phases over the coming months to make way for an entirely new themed area. This transition includes a bittersweet farewell to Mythos Restaurant, which is scheduled to close its doors permanently in 2027.
A New Signature Dining Experience

Thunder Falls Terrace is also set for a massive transformation. The current dining spot will close this summer to be reimagined as a brand-new, signature full-service restaurant. This upgraded concept is slated to debut in 2027, aiming to become the premier dining destination within Islands of Adventure.
Universal CityWalk

From Hall of Fame to Fat One’s
CityWalk’s food scene is getting a celebrity boost. Fat One’s Hot Dogs & Italian Ice—founded by *NSYNC’s Joey Fatone and manager Joe Mulvihill—is officially moving in. You can expect a menu packed with creative hot dogs and refreshing Italian ices.
-
Note: To make room for the new flavor, Hot Dog Hall of Fame will be closing its doors this July.
More on the Horizon

These updates join an already busy construction schedule at CityWalk, including the upcoming arrivals of Five Guys and Luke Combs’ Category 10.
Stay Tuned: Universal will be dropping more details about these projects in the months ahead.
Which of these changes are you most excited (or nervous) about? It’s definitely the end of an era for Mythos fans, but the future of the parks is looking busier than ever.
