If you’ve ever wondered how Disney attractions come to life or dreamed of becoming an Imagineer, Disney has a new series that’s worth checking out.
Imagineer That! has returned with new episodes on the Walt Disney Imagineering YouTube channel, bringing back fan-favorite host Tom Morrow 2.0 to answer some of the most common questions about how Disney creates its attractions and experiences.
Originally introduced in Disney Channel shorts and later as the host of Innoventions at EPCOT, Tom Morrow 2.0 has become something of a cult favorite among longtime Disney fans. Now he’s back with updated adventures that blend humor, science, and behind-the-scenes access to Walt Disney Imagineering.
Each episode tackles a different topic, including:
- How to become an Imagineer
- The science behind Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster’s inversions
- Keeping Audio-Animatronics looking show-ready
- How nighttime parade floats stay perfectly synchronized
- The technology behind trackless attractions like Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway
- How Imagineers create mountains, scents, and other immersive effects
One of the newest episodes focuses on one of the questions Disney fans ask most often: “How do I become an Imagineer?” Rather than pointing to one specific career path, Disney explains that Imagineering includes more than 150 different disciplines, from engineering and technology to business, art, and storytelling.
We’ve always enjoyed when Disney pulls back the curtain on how its attractions work, and this series feels like a fun way to introduce younger audiences to Imagineering while giving longtime fans plenty of behind-the-scenes details to appreciate. The return of Tom Morrow 2.0 is also a nice bit of nostalgia for anyone who remembers his Disney Channel appearances or Innoventions at EPCOT.
