Disney has shared new details about the upcoming The Lion King attraction at Disney Adventure World, where construction is now underway on the first immersive land dedicated to the 1994 animated film.

The centerpiece of the new area will be a large-scale water attraction that takes guests through Simba’s journey from cub to king, using music, Audio-Animatronics, and special effects to bring key moments from the film to life.

A Journey Through the Pride Lands

Guests will enter beneath a 120-foot-high Pride Rock before boarding the new flume-style attraction.

Disney has confirmed the ride will feature:

  • A new flume ride system
  • A 52-foot drop
  • Three slopes
  • Audio-Animatronics figures
  • Special effects
  • Songs from The Lion King
  • Simba’s final confrontation with Scar

The attraction is designed as a full retelling of Simba’s story rather than focusing on a single scene, giving Disney the opportunity to recreate several familiar moments from the film throughout the experience.

A Full Lion King-Themed Land

The attraction will be part of a larger immersive world dedicated to The Lion King, with additional dining, shopping, and character experiences planned for the area.

Pride Rock will serve as the visual centerpiece, while the new ride is expected to become one of the largest attractions at Disneyland Paris.

The scale of the project is what makes this addition especially interesting. Between the 120-foot Pride Rock, the new flume system, and the use of Audio-Animatronics and music from the film, Disney appears to be building an experience that goes well beyond a traditional movie-based attraction.

With construction now underway, more details are expected as the transformation of Disney Adventure World continues.
