Asia’s First Fast & Furious-Themed Indoor Thrill Ride Coming To Universal Beijing Resort

Universal Beijing Resort is celebrating its fifth anniversary with the announcement of two major new experiences coming to the destination: Asia’s first Fast & Furious-themed indoor thrill ride and a brand-new Nighttime Spectacular at the Lagoon.

The announcements were made September 16, 2026, as Universal Beijing Resort celebrated its fifth anniversary with a special gala under the theme “UBR’s 5th Anniversary, Infinitely Your Way.” The celebration brought together guests, Team Members, characters, partners and special guests to mark five years since the resort opened.

The two new projects are expected to expand Universal Beijing Resort’s lineup of immersive attractions and nighttime entertainment while continuing the destination’s efforts to introduce new stories, environments and experiences.

Fast & Furious Comes to Universal Beijing Resort

One of the biggest announcements is the development of an all-new Fast & Furious-themed indoor thrill ride, which Universal Beijing Resort describes as the first attraction of its kind in Asia.

Designed specifically for Universal Beijing Resort, the attraction will be housed entirely indoors and will bring the high-speed action and cinematic style of the Fast & Furious franchise into a theme park ride experience.

Guests will be immersed in an original adventure inspired by the franchise’s signature combination of speed, action and storytelling. The experience is being designed to integrate its themed environments, narrative and ride system into one cohesive attraction, placing guests directly into the action.

The new attraction will draw inspiration from Universal Pictures’ Fast & Furious franchise, which celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2026. The film series has released 11 movies to date, with another installment planned for the coming years.

Universal Beijing Resort also confirmed that the attraction has been specifically developed for the Beijing destination rather than being an existing attraction replicated from another Universal theme park.

New Nighttime Spectacular Coming to the Lagoon

Universal Beijing Resort is also developing a new Nighttime Spectacular at the Lagoon, giving guests another way to experience the park after dark.

Located at the center of Universal Studios Beijing, the Lagoon connects several of the resort’s themed lands and serves as a gathering space for guests during their visits.

The new nighttime experience will transform the Lagoon after sunset through a combination of light, music, storytelling, and live interaction. The surrounding water and landscape will become part of the experience as stories unfold across the area.

Universal Beijing Resort describes the project as a new nighttime gateway connecting the park’s various themed worlds and offering guests a different way to experience the destination after dark.

Universal Beijing Resort Celebrates Five Years

The two new experiences were announced as Universal Beijing Resort marked its fifth anniversary.

Since opening in 2021, the resort has continued to expand its offerings through seasonal events, new ticket products, merchandise, hotel experiences and collaborations featuring both international and Chinese intellectual properties.

In 2026, the resort incorporated Chinese IPs including Chang’an, Genshin Impact, virtual singer Luo Tianyi, The Grave Robbers’ Chronicles and Identity V into various seasonal events through immersive environments, live entertainment and interactive experiences.

The fifth-anniversary celebration included special decorations, limited-time experiences and anniversary surprises throughout the destination. A special “Infinite Blue Carpet” stretched from Hollywood Boulevard to the Universal Majestic Theatre as part of the festivities.

Inside the theatre, the anniversary gala featured music, dance, special performances and a look back at memorable moments from Universal Beijing Resort’s first five years.

Looking Toward the Future

Universal Beijing Resort says the two new projects represent the next evolution of its entertainment lineup, expanding the ways guests can experience the destination through new stories, environments and interactive experiences.

The Fast & Furious indoor thrill ride will bring the franchise’s high-energy action to a new themed attraction, while the Nighttime Spectacular at the Lagoon will create a new nighttime experience at the heart of Universal Studios Beijing.

Both projects are part of Universal Beijing Resort’s continued expansion as the destination enters its next chapter following five years of operation.
