Norwegian Cruise Line is putting entertainment front and center aboard its newest ship, Norwegian Aura, and one of the biggest additions will celebrate the music of Whitney Houston.

When Norwegian Aura debuts in May 2027, the ship will introduce “Whitney: A Celebration of Whitney Houston,” an original production developed in partnership with The Estate of Whitney E. Houston and Primary Wave Music. The show will headline a larger entertainment lineup that includes a new illusion and acrobatics production, live music throughout the ship and the return of an adults-only favorite from Norwegian Luna.
Whitney Houston Takes Center Stage Aboard Norwegian Aura
“Whitney: A Celebration of Whitney Houston” will be staged inside the ship’s three-story Aura Theatre & Club and is designed as a contemporary concert experience rather than a traditional musical.
The 45-minute production will feature live vocals, a live band, contemporary arrangements, immersive visuals and performances that extend beyond the main stage.
The setlist will pull from some of Houston’s biggest hits, including:
- “I Will Always Love You”
- “I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)”
- “It’s Not Right, But It’s OK”
The production takes inspiration from the glamour and stage presence that defined Houston’s career while reimagining her music specifically for the Norwegian Aura experience.
This also continues an interesting trend for NCL. The cruise line has been leaning into Vegas residency-style productions centered around major recording artists, following its Prince production aboard Norwegian Aqua and Elton John production aboard Norwegian Luna. Whitney Houston feels like a natural next choice, especially with a catalog built for a big live production.
ILLUMINOX Brings Illusions and Acrobatics to the Aura Theatre
Whitney Houston won’t be the only major new production aboard Norwegian Aura.

“ILLUMINOX: Infinite Wonder Unboxed” is an original 45-minute theatrical production combining large-scale illusions, acrobatics, original music and visual effects.
The show is designed around curiosity and the unexpected, taking audiences through a fast-moving series of illusions and performances inside the Aura Theatre & Club.
Between ILLUMINOX and Whitney, it sounds like NCL is giving the Aura Theatre two very different headlining experiences rather than relying on variations of the same traditional cruise ship production.

The Vinyl Republic Brings Live Music Throughout the Ship
Another new addition is The Vinyl Republic, a live music collective inspired by the legacy of vinyl records.
The group won’t be tied to just one genre or venue. Performances will cover everything from country and rock to funk, blues and pop, with NCL saying that no two shows will be exactly the same.
Two larger Vinyl Republic experiences are planned for the Aura Theatre & Club. “The Vinyl Republic’s Journey Through Rock” will celebrate Journey and the arena rock era, while “The Vinyl Republic’s Kickin’ It Country” will turn the theater into a late-night country party with current hits and interactive line dancing.
The group will also perform elsewhere around Norwegian Aura, including the Penrose Atrium and Improv at Sea.

LunaTique: Pop Circus Returns
After making its debut aboard Norwegian Luna, “LunaTique: Pop Circus” will return aboard Norwegian Aura with new acts and new music.
The adults-only experience blends cabaret, circus performances and nightlife inside the Aura Theatre & Club. Unlike the ship’s primary entertainment, LunaTique will be available for an additional cost, with cocktails incorporated into the experience.
Also joining the entertainment lineup will be Aura FIRST NIGHT, a welcome show introducing guests to the entertainment available around the ship, and Latin LIVE!, a poolside party featuring percussionists, vocalists, dancers and Latin dance music.
Norwegian Aura Debuts in May 2027
Norwegian Aura will begin sailing in May 2027, starting with a seven-day Mediterranean voyage from Trieste, Italy, to Barcelona on May 21. A 13-day transatlantic voyage will then bring the ship from Barcelona to Miami.
Beginning in June, Norwegian Aura will sail seven-day Eastern Caribbean cruises from Miami through October 2027, visiting destinations including Puerto Plata, St. Thomas, Tortola and NCL’s Great Stirrup Cay, which will feature the new Great Tides Waterpark.
For winter 2027-28, the ship will transition to Western Caribbean itineraries visiting destinations including Roatan, Costa Maya, Cozumel and Harvest Caye.
We’re interested to see how the entertainment comes together aboard Norwegian Aura. The combination of a large-scale Whitney Houston production, illusions and acrobatics, live bands and late-night entertainment gives the ship a pretty varied lineup, with the Aura Theatre & Club clearly playing a major role in NCL’s plans for its newest ship.
