Today it was announced that the two Disney theme parks in California will reopen on April 30, CEO Bob Chapek said on CNBC’s “Squawk Alley” Wednesday. New state guidance permits amusement parks to reopen beginning April 1 with 15% to 35% capacity depending on the prevalence of the virus in the community. Masks and other health precautions will be required.

Theme park capacity will be significantly limited to comply with government requirements and physical distancing, Disney will manage attendance through the new theme park reservation system that requires all guests to get a reservation for park entry in advance. To enter a park, both a park reservation and valid admission for the same park on the same date are required for guests ages 3 and up. Theme park reservations will be limited and subject to availability and, until further notice, only California residents may visit the parks in line with current state guidelines.

Disneyland Resort will invite cast members and members of the community to be the first theme park guests. A Touch of Disney, the limited-time ticketed experience will go on as planned from March 18 through April 19.
