The Walt Disney Company is preparing for one of the largest company-wide celebrations in its history as it gears up for America’s 250th anniversary with a new initiative called “Disney Celebrates America.” The multi-platform celebration will span television, streaming, theme parks, Disney Cruise Line, and community outreach efforts leading up to and through the Fourth of July holiday.
While Disney has always had a uniquely American story woven into its history, this feels like one of the company’s most ambitious patriotic initiatives in recent memory. From special broadcasts and park experiences to honoring military families and celebrating American innovation, the effort touches nearly every corner of the Disney portfolio.
A 24-Hour Nationwide Broadcast Event
At the heart of the celebration will be an unprecedented 24-hour broadcast event beginning July 3 and continuing through July 4.
Led by David Muir and featuring talent from across ABC News, ESPN, National Geographic, and Disney Entertainment, the programming will take viewers across all 50 states with live celebrations, storytelling, performances, and historical features.
The event will air across ABC, Disney+, Hulu, National Geographic, FX, Freeform, ESPN, and additional Disney-owned platforms, making it one of the largest coordinated broadcasts Disney has ever attempted.
One segment we’re particularly interested in is Disney Celebrates America: Nashville’s Star-Spangled Bash, which promises major musical performances alongside one of the largest fireworks and drone shows in the country.
Soarin’ Across America Takes Flight

For theme park fans, one of the biggest highlights is the continued rollout of Soarin’ Across America.
The attraction is already operating at EPCOT and will debut July 2 at Disney California Adventure Park. The reimagined version showcases iconic American landscapes and landmarks, including the New England coastline, Mount Rushmore, Washington D.C., New York City, and the Grand Canyon.
As longtime fans of the original Soarin’ Over California, something is exciting about seeing Disney celebrate America’s diverse landscapes again. The attraction has always been at its best when it creates that sense of wonder and appreciation for places many guests may never have the opportunity to see in person.
Special Celebrations at Walt Disney World and Disneyland

Both Disney resorts will be participating in patriotic entertainment and limited-time offerings.
At Walt Disney World, guests can expect:
- Patriotic lighting packages on Spaceship Earth
- Special performances by Voices of Liberty
- Main Street, U.S.A. décor
- Character appearances
- Limited-time food and merchandise
- Additional military tributes and ceremonies
- Extended runs of special exhibits and performances
Meanwhile, Disneyland Resort will feature:
- The return of Celebrate America! fireworks
- Patriotic-themed Dapper Dans performances
- Military band performances
- A special America-themed cavalcade
- Main Street, U.S.A. and Buena Vista Street décor
- Fourth of July entertainment offerings
One thing Disney generally does very well is patriotic entertainment. Whether it’s Voices of Liberty at EPCOT, flag retreat ceremonies, or Fourth of July fireworks, the parks often find a balance between celebration and tribute that feels authentic rather than overly commercialized.
Continuing Support for Military Families
Beyond the entertainment, Disney is also expanding its partnership with Blue Star Families through a previously announced $2.5 million commitment supporting military families across the country. Programs include book donations, family events, character experiences, movie screenings, and community support initiatives.
This is one aspect of the announcement that deserves attention. While the broadcasts and park experiences will likely generate most of the headlines, Disney’s long-standing relationship with military communities continues to be a meaningful part of the company’s identity.
Looking Ahead to America 250
The nation’s semiquincentennial is still months away, but Disney is clearly positioning itself as one of the largest storytellers participating in the celebration.
Whether through television, theme parks, National Geographic storytelling, sports programming, cruise experiences, or community initiatives, Disney appears to be taking a broad approach that celebrates both American history and the optimism that has always been central to the company’s own story.
For Disney fans, there will be plenty to watch, experience, and celebrate over the coming months. And if this announcement is any indication, Disney is only getting started.
