Disney is sharing new details about its next major resort coming to Walt Disney World Resort.
Disney Lakeshore Lodge, a brand-new nature-inspired hotel, is currently under development along the shores of Bay Lake and is projected to open in summer 2027. The latest update offers a closer look at the theme, design, and overall experience guests can expect.
A Resort Inspired by Nature and Storytelling
Lakeshore Lodge is being designed as a waterfront retreat that blends natural elements with Disney storytelling.
The resort draws inspiration from Walt Disney’s appreciation for the outdoors, with influences from classic animated films that highlight nature, including Bambi, Pocahontas, and Brother Bear.
Rather than leaning heavily into characters, the approach here feels more subtle. Think environmental storytelling, artwork, and design details that reflect forests, wildlife, and landscapes rather than overt IP placement.
Designed Around Bay Lake
The location is a big part of what makes this project stand out.
Situated along Bay Lake, the resort is being built to emphasize its surroundings, with floor-to-ceiling windows and open spaces that bring in natural light and highlight views of the water and surrounding greenery.
Many rooms will offer lake views during the day and even views of Magic Kingdom fireworks at night, which continues to be one of the most sought-after features for Disney resort guests.
Room Types and New “Lake Houses”
Disney Lakeshore Lodge will include 967 rooms, offering a range of accommodations from standard studios to larger suites.
One of the more interesting additions is the introduction of one- and two-bedroom Lake Houses, located closer to the water. These are designed to give families more space and a more secluded, relaxed experience compared to traditional hotel layouts.
It’s another example of Disney continuing to expand its resort offerings to appeal to larger groups and longer stays.
A Focus on Slowing Down
Compared to some of the more high-energy resorts at Walt Disney World, Lakeshore Lodge is clearly being positioned as a place to unwind.
The overall tone leans into relaxation, nature, and spending time together, rather than constant activity. It feels like it’s meant to balance out the intensity of the parks with something quieter and more scenic.
More Details Still to Come
Future updates are expected to include details on dining, recreation, and additional amenities as the resort moves closer to its 2027 opening.
Disney is framing these updates as part of an ongoing “Letters from Lakeshore” series, which will continue to share behind-the-scenes looks at the project as it develops.
